CRAIG ANDERSON
Partner & Design Principal

Craig Anderson holds a Master of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc, 2000) and brings over 25 years of experience spanning architectural design, construction, and creative practice. His career has taken him through respected firms including Caldwell Architects and Maltzen Architects, where he built a strong technical foundation across drafting, model-making, master planning, and construction administration — developing an unusually hands-on command of both design and delivery across commercial, mixed-use, and residential typologies.
Since 2001, Craig has maintained a deep and sustained creative partnership with internationally acclaimed lighting artist Peter Erskine of Solar Spectrum Art. Over more than two decades, he has contributed to the full lifecycle of Erskine's large-scale public art installations — from architectural CAD and model-building through to full-scale fabrication and on-site installation. This immersive engagement with light as an artistic medium has profoundly shaped Craig's sensitivity to atmosphere, materiality, and the emotional resonance of space.
Craig is also a proven entrepreneur. He founded Shop People, a 20,000 sq ft industrial arts maker space in the San Francisco Bay Area, and owned and operated Fleur de Cocoa, a celebrated French patisserie and café in Los Gatos. These ventures speak to an instinct for craft, curation, and experiential environment that runs through everything he designs.
At Hopscape, Craig brings this rare combination — architectural rigor, artistic sensibility, construction fluency, and entrepreneurial instinct — to the studio's design vision. He is a design principal who has not only conceived spaces, but built them, curated them, and run them as a business owner, and that full-circle experience is evident in every project he touches.
